The NASA Management Education Center (MEC) was established in 1977 as a result of the need for a systematic Agency wide effort to develop managerial resources through a residential training and conference center. The MEC is an Agency facility, managed and operated by the Office of Human Capital Management (OHCM). The MEC, located at the Wallops Flight Facility (WFF) in Wallops Island, Virginia, is the Agency's focal point for executive, management, and supervisory education and human development by supporting conferences, training sessions, and various other educational activities.
The MEC mission is to provide customer focused, state-of-the-art conference center services, using the latest technologies and human development methodologies to enable the Agency to achieve its human capital objectives.
The MEC vision is to provide and foster a learning environment that enables NASA to build human, scientific and technological capabilities, focusing on the current and next generation of leaders and explorers ready to expand the frontiers of air and space. |

| History of the MEC |

The MEC was established in 1977 to provide a place where NASA can conduct training and conferences in a pleasant environment with few distractions. We are NASA's designated site for developing its most important asset, i.e., human resources capital. The development of our current and future NASA leaders has an important effect on the Agency, as well as it's employees. Our management gains strength and comprehensive quality to meet the many challenges and opportunities ahead. The MEC serves as the focal point for leadership, supervisory, executive and human resources development throughout the Agency.
The MEC is operated by a conference support staff available to the Agency for human resources development activities at Wallops Flight Facility. |

Upon request and availability, the MEC also provides event support to various meetings, conferences, work sessions, group development, information exchanges, seminars, workshops, and training activities sponsored by Goddard Space Flight Center, Langley Research Center and NASA Headquarters. The MEC is located at the Goddard Space Flight Centers (GSFC), Wallops Flight Facility (WFF), Wallops Island, Virginia.
The MEC is managed by the Wallops Executive Support Corporation (WESCO). WESCO consists of a professional conference staff that is known for it's warmth and first-class customer service. |
