This mission supported three experiments from the Flight Opportunities program of STMD. The experiment from Montana State University is a Radiation Tolerant Computer System (RadPC) provided by Brock La Meres. The experiment from Controlled Dynamics is Vibration Isolation Platform (VIP) provided by Scott Green. SOAREX9 is the third experiment flying, provided by Marc Murbach, NASA-ARC. The Principal Investigator is Paul DeLeon/NASA Ames Research Center.

Terrier-Improved Orion sounding rocket

The Terrier-Improved Orion is a two stage sounding rocket consisting of a Terrier first stage and an Orion second stage. The Terrier-Improved Orion is capable of reaching altitudes of about 350 km, depending on payload mass, and can carry payloads weighing 200 to 800 pounds.
